Featured Artist Niko Knows Art

My name is Dylan, sometimes Niko. I am a 24-year-old artist currently studying at the University of Washington. I have been making art since before I can remember and absolutely love the process. I work primarily with acrylic paint markers to create intricate designs and patterns on canvas. I love making visually striking and dynamic pieces of art that engage with the senses. For me, like many artists, there is nothing more freeing than art, and a lot of my psyche is represented within my work. I view the artistic process as a spiritual and therapeutic one. I love the movement and texture that can be created through different applications of lines and color. My work usually consists of bold lines and bright colors and can sometimes be overwhelming. I’ve been told my art makes people dizzy, and I take that as a compliment. I want my art to make one feel the need to take a step back to fully absorb it, but I also want the viewer to feel the need to step forward to fully understand what is happening. I want my art to draw you in but also push you out.
